Nathan Herne returns to S5000 with new Valvoline Team GRM branding

Herne returns to the Turtle Wax Trans Am series after taking out the championship title in 2021.

He switches from a Dodge Challenger to a Ford Mustang for his Trans Am tilt, alongside entering select S5000 events for Garry Rogers Motorsport.

"GRM have been great to me so far, putting me in competitive cars in both the S5000 Australian Drivers Championship and Tasmanian Sprintcar Series, and I don’t doubt that history will be repeating itself here in the Trans Am Series," said Herne.

"It’s going to be important on my end to give proper feedback to the guys, I’ve got the best people you could wish for up and down the pitlane with Marcos Ambrose, Dan Frencham and Tom Needham on my car."

"It adds a bit of pressure onto myself because I know I’m with a top team and I am expected to be at the top of my game every time I hit the track which is why I’ve made the move to Melbourne to really focus on racing."

Team GRM has revealed striking new liveries for 2022, with consistent Valvoline branding across their TCR Australia, Trans Am, and S5000 entries.

Valvoline has been a partner for 34 years, with the new design celebrating the partnership by taking inspiration from the brand's American roots.

"Valvoline are part of the GRM family and to have this iconic brand supporting our team in three-national championships including TCR, the fastest growing Touring Car category in the world; the NASCAR inspired Trans Ams and the fastest and most exhilarating race cars in the southern hemisphere, the S5000s is something we are very proud of at GRM," said Barry Rogers, Director of Garry Rogers Motorsport.

TCR Australia, Trans Am, and the S5000 Australian Drivers' Championship get underway this weekend at Symmons Plains as part of Race Tasmania.
