The five-round, fifteen race series will take place entirely in the UAE, with events shared between Yas Marina Circuit and the Dubai Autodrome.

New to the schedule for 2022 will be a reverse-grid for the second race of each three-race weekend.

The grid for race two will be set by the finishing order of race one, with the top 10 in reverse order.

A separate Rookie Cup will also be introduced to highlight the performance of newcomers to the series.

The championship is eligible for FIA Super Licence points, and is positioned as a summer series to capitalise on recent FIA changes that allow drivers to earn points from two distinct categories in each calendar year.

General Manager of Top Speed, Davide De Gobbi, said that the changes made before the 2021 season had lead to an increased interested in the category.

“We have already received huge interest in the 2022 F3 Asian Championship season from teams, driver management and drivers themselves."

"We will be looking to repeat the enormous success of the 2021 season which delivered a compact, competitive, cost-effective and ultimately thrilling championship.”

Guanyu Zhou won the 2021 championship on his road to the FIA Formula 2 championship, where he competes as a member of the Alpine F1 academy, and serves as a test driver for the Alpine F1 team.
