Report: Seven to add Supercars to growing motorsport roster

Supercars has been in negotiations with commercial broadcasters since at least February, with the current six-year, $241 million deal across Foxtel and Network Ten set to expire at the end of 2020.

Seven West Media announced earlier this year a multi-year deal with the Australian Racing Group (ARG), to broadcast the TCR Australia Series, S5000 Australian Drivers Championship, and the Bathurst International.

Reporting on the negotiation process has not provided much clarity until now, with The Australian reporting that Seven had walked away from Supercars in May, while Auto Action claimed in July that both Seven and the Nine Network were in negotiations, with the Stokes controlled network making an attempt to go early and secure 2020 Supercars events.

Auto Action reports that a deal is now imminent.

Crucially, Seven may increase their coverage of Supercars from the current broadcast schedule, up to one race per event.

Between Supercars and the ARG events, the Seven Network would have 22 weekends of motorsport per year, essentially making them the television home of Australian motorsport.
