Tommy Smith to take on 2020 Formula Renault Eurocup
Young Australian Tommy Smith has announced that he will contest the 2020 Formula Renault Eurocup season with Italian team JD Motorsport.
Smith contested the 2018 and 2019 Australian Formula 4 championships, before moving to the F3 Asian Championship, taking part in the 2019 and 2019-20 series, with a season-high finish of sixth place.
JD Motorsport finished fourth in the teams championship last year, after their drivers earned one win and three other podium finishes.
Smith joins fellow Aussie Jackson Walls in the Renault Sport series, and both will be eagerly looking to replicate the success of Oscar Piastri, who last year became the first ever Australian to win the championship.
