PREMA claims seventh Formula 2 win of 2023 in Silverstone Sprint Race

PREMA Racing achieved its seventh win of the year in FIA Formula 2 today at Silverstone. Starting from P1 of the reverse-grid field for the Sprint Race, the 21-year-old Dane dominated the way from the beginning on a wet track and ended up with a massive margin.

Ollie Bearman showed an equally promising pace as he took off from P5 and, following an early safety car, quickly went up to P2 with a stellar double move. Despite a spin at Vale, the British rookie was still in contention for the podium throughout the final stages. Unfortunately, while defending P4, he went wide in the gravel and dropped back to P6 where he eventually ended up bringing home a positive points finish.

For Vesti, it was the fourth win of the year, which allowed him to extend his championship lead as he and PREMA Racing head into the Feature Race.

Frederik Vesti

Finished: P1

"P1 in the sprint race of Silverstone, it has been a really really strong race and we have been leading with a huge margin. The car was really good since the beginning, and I felt really comfortable in the wet. As a team, we really got on top of the wet driving, which is really nice as you never know when it can start raining. We continue to score points even after a disappointing day on Friday, and recovering like this on Saturday is a great result. We can look forward to hopefully have another strong race tomorrow."

Ollie Bearman

Finished: P6

"A bit of a difficult race, I had a good first couple of laps and I got up to P2, but unfortunately I lost a couple of positions again with a spin. After that, I was struggling a bit with the pace, and it was a tough second half of the race. I'm still happy with P6 considering everything that happened, but we could have taken more today. Let's look to tomorrow where it will hopefully be dry and see what we can do."
