McLaren drivers Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris have driven the team’s 2023 F1 car for the first time in Bahrain.
At a filming day ahead of the three-day pre-season test, both Norris and Piastri completed laps in the new MCL60.
“Nice to get back in a current F1 car again,” said the Australian F1 debutant.
“It was a good day.”
“Everything went smoothly, which was the most important thing, now we’re ready for testing.”
The filming day was Piastri’s first day in the current Formula 1 car, which is set to more than double at the following test.
“We’ve only got three days between myself and Lando, so a day and a half each to get up to speed before the season starts,” said Piastri.
“There’ll be a lot of learning going on for both myself and the team.”
The Australian says he is extremely excited to finally make his Formula 1 debut.
“First year, debut year, I’ve been waiting a long time for this, so to finally have it happening, it’s nice.”
“I feel like I’m well-embedded in the team now, ready to go testing and then put it all into proper action next week.”
Formula 1 pre-season testing runs 23-25 February in Bahrain.
