The Kiwi was on the cusp of the championship in the 2021 season before a heartbreaking start-line crash in the season finale.

A difficult start in 2022 was quickly overcome with a double-victory in Rome, with Evans riding the championship battle to the final race in South Korea, finishing runner-up in the standings to Stoffel Vandoorne.

Days out from the 2023 season opener in Mexico City, the Jaguar TCS Racing driver says he is focused on a return to form.

"Last season was my most successful in Formula E, so I’m using that momentum to kick start this season and focus on achieving a positive result in the first round," said Evans.

"I have fond memories of winning in Mexico City in 2020, so I’m feeling ready for a strong start to the season."

The race will feature the debut of the third generation Formula E car, touted by Jaguar as the fastest, lightest, and most efficient in series history.

Team Principal James Barclay emphasised the challenges of the new cars.

"This first race in Mexico will be about trying to be as prepared as we can be and ready to adapt."

The Mexico City E-Prix begins with Free Practice 1 at 9.30am Saturday (AEDT), with lights out for the 36-lap E-Prix at 7am Sunday, live on Stan Sport.
