Mansell started third for the 79th running of the Grand Prix, polesitter Oliver Goethe falling to fourth in the opening corner with Mansell's Motopark teammate Vladislav Lomko taking the lead.

The Australian chased down Lomko through the narrow street circuit but was unable to pass for the win, finishing second at the chequered flag for his fourth Euroformula Open podium in five races.

"We missed out on the front row but attacked into the first corner and took advantage of some mistakes to get up to second place" said the Newcastle native.

"It's a really good weekend for us, and hopefully we'll take that positive momentum into Paul Ricard next."

Mansell sits second in the championship standings, 18 points shy of the series.

"Another great weekend for us, and plenty of important points picked up once more to keep us in the title fight although it's still early days."

The Euroformula Open series returns May 21-22 at Paul Ricard.
