S5000 pole for Joey Mawson at Australian Grand Prix
Joey Mawson has taken out the inaugural Supercheap Auto Pole Award as S5000 revs up at the Australian Grand Prix.
Series front-runners Mawson and James Golding swapped fastest laps throughout the session before a 1:39.777 lap secured Mawson’s spot at the front of the pack.
The reigning Australian Drivers’ Champion was just 0.127s ahead of Aaron Cameron, with Golding having to settle for third ahead of Nathan Herne.
Mawson takes home $1000 from Supercheap Auto as the brand joins the series to sponsor pole position.
