Apr 30 Mitch Evans takes Monaco E-Prix pole continuing run after back-to-back victories

Mitch Evans has put his Jaguar on pole for the Monaco E-Prix after gliding through the qualifying duels.

Evans went head-to-head with Pascal Wehrlein in the final, setting the fastest lap of the session with a time of 1:29.839 as he put his Jaguar TCS Racing I-TYPE 5 on pole.

"Its been a long time since I actually got pole position," said Evans.

"It was back in like Santiago, season six [2020]."

"Its been a tricky day, this morning wasn't amazing but we've pulled ourselves together and kept calm, and the guys gave me a really predictable car."

"Repeatability is obviously really important for the duels, so this feels really, really nice."

Evans defeated Jean-Eric Vergne in the semi-final, with the DS Techeetah driver to start on the second row alongside Stoffel Vandoorne, who was dispatched with ease by countryman Wehrlein in the other semi.

"With the way the Formula E races are you can't be too confident, but it gives us a nice little boost," said Evans.

"Its nice to start with track position, and we'll see what the race brings."

"In Rome we had good race pace and we just hope to continue that now."

Fellow Kiwi Nick Cassidy will start down in eighteenth after going straight on at Sainte Dévote during his qualifying run.

The FIA Formula E Monaco E-Prix gets underway at 11pm this evening (AEST) on Stan Sport.
