Australian Oscar Piastri has won his second of two Formula Renault Eurocup outings at the Nürburgring this weekend.

Piastri took pole position in another stellar qualifying effort, leading the pack by 0.753s.

As the lights went out for Race 2, his lead looked to be in jeopardy once again as Alex Quinn pulled alongside the R-ace GP driver.

This time, Piastri was relentless, and took the fight to Quinn, emerging in the lead by turn three.

From there, the 18 year-old didn’t hesitate, drawing away from the chasing pack and crossing the line an incredible 14.8 seconds ahead of Quinn in second place. Piastri’s R-ace GP teammate Caio Collet took the final podium position.

Piastri said “the car was pretty spot on all weekend:the guys at R-ace GP did a fantastic job.”

“I don’t really know where the extra pace over everyone else came from, to be honest.”

The two victories add to his total of five wins from twelve races. Piastri takes the championship lead to Hungary next week, on 197 points ahead of French driver Victor Martins on 157 points.

The Australian said “there’s a quick turnaround now and we get back on track in Hungary where I’ll be trying to build on this advantage in the championship.”

“I went well there in the rain last year so I’m hopeful for a good result.”
