Liam Lawson on Euroformula Open crash: "I tried to get out of it, but it was too late"

New Zealander Liam Lawson, alongside teammate Yuki Tsunoda, and Team Motopark boss Timo Rumpfkeil, have spoken to Formula Scout about the clash at Spa this weekend that cost the team a points haul and an almost-certain podium sweep of the round.

Lawson said: “We’ve been struggling all weekend with pace. Quali pace has been really bad the whole time, so I focused on basically getting as good a start as I could,”

“I managed to get the lead, but I could see straight away we didn’t have enough pace to stay there. I should have really just stayed behind, but I went to try to pass around the outside.

“Got pulled on to the kerb on the way in, basically sucked me offline completely, then after that I tried to get out if it, but it was too late.”
