Brendon Leitch takes Toyota Racing Series victory after Muth penalised

Brendon Leitch took the lead at the start from pole-sitter Esteban Muth in the reverse-grid race, until the race was red flagged before the completion of the first lap.

Australian Thomas Smith, starting from last place, had a brilliant start and was competing in the tight rear of the pack before Artem Petrov came into contact with Smith, sending Petrov into the wall and red-flagging the race.

The cars restarted the race in the original grid order, and this time Muth kept his lead. Leitch stuck with Muth for the remainder of the race, but was unable to catch the Belgian driver, giving Muth the victory.

Meanwhile, Lucas Auer battled Raoul Hyman in a close contest for third, before Auer oversteered into the last corner, overcorrected, and sent himself into the outside wall. The red flag was brought out for the biggest crash so far of the weekend, and the race concluded.

Muth was found to have jumped the start and awarded a five-second penalty, dropping him to fourth and promoting Leitch to the top step of the podium.

Australian Calan Williams bested his result from Saturday, finishing 7th.
