Track limits a key focus for Qatar Grand Prix
Drivers exceeding track limits will be a key focus for stewards at the Qatar Grand Prix.
The race director's event notes have gone through multiple revisions with F1 teams running at the circuit for the first time.
Corner-specific rulings were scrapped after Free Practice 1, with Race Director Michael Masi ruling that "the track limit on the exit of each corner at this track is defined as when no part of a car remains in contact with the purple and white kerb."
After Free Practice 2, new directives were issued, with stewards paying particular attention to turns 2, seven, and sixteen.
Any lap times set when a driver exceeds the track limit at any of those corners will be deleted.
Drivers will receive three warnings during the race, with a black and white flag issued on the fourth instance.
"…any further cutting will then be reported to the stewards."
"For the avoidance of doubt, this means a total of three occasions combined not three at each corner."
