Shorter DRS zones headline Miami circuit updates
The Miami Grand Prix circuit features shorter DRS zones and a new track surface as part of changes made for the 2023 event.
For the second year of racing at the Miami International Autodrome, the entire track has been resurfaced to provide more grip and tyre degradation as well as prevent the break-up which happened last year.
The difficult turn 15 has been adjusted, with a new barrier on the right-hand side of turns 14 and adjusted barriers in the section between turns 13 and 14. The DRS zones have also been shortened by 75 metres after the second activation zone on the long back straight provided a huge advantage to drivers during the inaugural grand prix last year.
Off-track, the run-off area has been reduced at turns 1, 4, 7, and 11, with walls and barriers brought closer to the track.
Miami is the 11th venue in the United States to host a Formula 1 Grand Prix, with Charles Leclerc taking pole last year before Max Verstappen took victory after passing the Ferrari driver on lap nine.
Should Verstappen win again or finish in the points, it will be his 24th points finish in a row, tying Michael Schumacher's record as fourth on the all-time list. At the other end of the grid, Nico Hulkenberg, Nyck de Vries, Logan Sargeant, and Australian Oscar Piastri will all make their debut at the Miami this weekend.
