McLaughlin was running eleventh as the race ticked over into the final quarter, after starting down in twenty-sixth.
The Kiwi got out of the car under his own power, saying his only injury was a bruised ego.
"Really gutted for everyone on the Pennzoil Chevy," said McLaughlin.
"We had a fast race car today."
"Coming up through the pack, we were running really strong there."
" I just got caught by a gust of wind."
The #3 Pennzoil Chevrolet hit the wall hard before speeding down the track and back up into turn four, narrowly avoided by Ed Carpenter.
"Hadn’t been in clear air for a while and it just caught me, it snapped around and hit the fence and then the worst hit was probably the second hit."
"First crash here, but unfortunately that's just how it happens, and really gutted for everyone."
