Pau Grand Prix to return in 2022
The Pau Grand Prix will return to the motorsport calendar in 2022 as Euroformula Open releases a revised series schedule.
Series promoters GT Sport have announced a slightly revised version of the 2022 series, with the addition of the Grand Prix de Pau.
The event is one of the few outside of the Formula 1 World Championship that has earned the prestigious 'Grand Prix' name, alongside the New Zealand and Macua events.
The European series first raced at Pau in 2019, but the event was cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The weekend will comprise of two races, with the Sunday race becoming the 79th Grand Prix de Pau.
"We are particularly happy to be able to go to Pau again and see the Euroformula Open selected to provide the competition for the Grand Prix de Pau," said Jesús Pareja, CEO of GT Sport.
"There is no doubt that the Grand Prix de Pau is an addition to our calendar and an exciting challenge for teams and drivers.”
The other changes to the Euroformula Open calendar include a change of venue to Estoril for round one, as well as the replacement of the Mugello round with an event at Imola.
