Oscar Piastri confident in fight for FIA F3 race win before safety car
Oscar Piastri says he is confident that he could have fought for the FIA Formula 3 race lead against Liam Lawson, had the race not been interrupted by two late-race Safety Cars.
Piastri holds the lead of the FIA Formula 3 Championship after finishing second at Silverstone behind kiwi Liam Lawson.
The pair went wheel-to-wheel for the race lead for around a lap distance on Lap 11, before two late race Safety Cars neutralised the field.
"We finished second which is a good result,” he said.
“I had a good fight for the lead and I think we could have had a go at trying to get the win but couldn't quite pull it off.”
“The car felt mega so thanks to Prema for that. It was just unfortunate with those safety cars.”

The young Aussie is looking ahead to Race 2 to complete his weekend and maintain his championship dominance. He will begin the reverse-grid race in ninth position.
“The pace was really strong, and we can make some good positions tomorrow."
