Sebastián Fernández on pole in frantic FIA Formula 3 curtain-fraiser

Sebastián Fernández has won pole for the first round of the 2020 FIA Formula 3 season, followed by Lirim Zendeli and Australian Oscar Piastri.

The qualifying session came to a tense conclusion on the short Austrian track, with drivers scuffling for position before times fell in a series of final flying attempts.
Australian Alex Peroni qualified P7, with Jack Doohan in P15, and Calan Williams in P23.
Kiwi Liam Lawson qualified P12.
Race 1 gets underway 6.25pm on Saturday (AEST).
