Nyck de Vries left stranded in Imola floods
AlphaTauri driver Nyck de Vries has shared how he was left stranded in the midst of flooding that led to the cancellation of the Imola Grand Prix.
Taking to Instagram on Thursday, the F1 driver recounted how he was unable to travel to his hotel in Faenza, having to share a booked-out village hotel with McLaren mechanics.
With conditions worsening, the Dutchman drove back home through FIrenze, facing flooding and landslides on the mountain roads.
“Thank you to every single person who has been kind enough to help me,” said de Vries.
“It was truly hartwarming to see so many look out for each other. My thoughts are with those who continue to be affected by this tragedy.”

The flooding has been personal for AlphaTauri, with their headquarters based in the region.
“Unfortunately, our town of Faenza has once again experienced significant rainfall and subsequent flooding,” read a tweet from the team.
“The team’s factory is currently uneffected and everything is being done to ensure the safety of our employees and their families.”
