Tyre store and Supercars sponsor Beaurepaires to close

Tyre store Beaurepaires will close 100 retail and fleet store locations as parent company Goodyear restructures its operations in Australia.

The plan was finalised prior to the release of the company’s quarterly report in September last year, with the company still in consultation with staff representatives.

Goodyear Australia will move to a third-party distribution model, bringing an end to the 102-year-old Australian Beaurepaires brand and shed 700 jobs.

Beaurepaires is Supercars official tyre retail partner, with title sponsorship of the 2023 Sydney and Melbourne SuperSprint events.

News.com.au reported that a proposed sale to rival Bob Jane had fallen through, and that some stores had already been converted to Goodyear Autocare outlets ahead of a final decision expected in April.

This aligns with filings from Goodyear that the plan had already cost the company $30.7 million ($20 million USD).

Goodyear reported that the plan will be completed by the end of 2024 at a total cost of up to $100 million ($65 million USD).
