Macau Grand Prix headlines fresh Formula 4 South East Asia championship

The Macau Grand Prix will headline a new calendar for the Formula 4 South East Asia championship as the series comes under the management of promoters Top Speed.

The championship will race across three circuits in two countries, beginning in late October in Zhuzhou, China before an invitational round at the Macau Grand Prix, and then two rounds at Malaysia’s Sepang circuit with the series to culminate in the first week of December.

The Formula 4 series will be on the undercard of the FIA GT and FIA Formula 3 World Cups, which return to Macau for the first time since 2019 and the 70th running of the event.

The Macau GP will be held over two consecutive weekends, with the F4 SEA series to be held on the first weekend, 10 - 12 November, with the FIA Formula 3 World Cup to take place the following weekend on 16 - 19 November.

The top six drivers in the F4 SEA series will earn Super License points at a reduced rate as the series aims to revitalize international open-wheel competition in the region after the previous series lapsed during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Each round will comprise of three races, with qualifying sessions for races one and three while the second race is a reverse top-eight grid from the results of race one.

The Macau Grand Prix invitational round will feature a timed qualifying session and then an eight-lap qualifying race on Saturday, with the twelve-lap main event on Sunday.

Promoters Top Speed are known for the success of their management in the Formula Regional Middle East and Formula 4 UAE championships, with the former evolving out of Formula Regional Asia.

Long time partner Giti Tires will sponsor the F4 SEA championship and act as tyre supplier, with drivers to compete in Tatuus F4 T421 GEN2 cars with Autotecnica Motori-prepared Fiat Abarth turbocharged 1.4cc 160hp engines.
