Fittipaldi was fastest after the first set of flying laps until Jack Doohan went to the top with a lap of 1:24.078.

With ten minutes remaining, a flurry of hot laps left Fittipaldi in the top spot once again before Bearman went quickest overall with a lap of 1:23.546.

“Everyone knows I made my life a bit more difficult than I needed to in Baku,” said Bearman, who set the fastest lap in Azerbaijan with bent steering.

“Today was a bit more of a standard session let's say. I had a good car underneath me and yeah, it was a nice session.”

“From the car it felt like I had loads of room. That clearly wasn't the case but you know it’s a 1ualifying lap, you have to give it everything.”

“It was a decent lap. They’re never perfect. We've had like three push laps today, so there's always places where you're like I could have found a bit more time there. But it's just about putting it all together and we managed that today.”
