Formula 3 pairing Hugh Barter and Christian Mansell preview their home grand prix

Australian teammates Hugh Barter and Christian Mansell have shared their excitement ahead of their home grand prix in Melbourne.

Their team, Campos Racing, admits the two will be fan favourites at Albert Park, with third teammate Pepe Marti to be one of the favourites on-track after his win in the Bahrain sprint race.

“Very excited to be racing not only in my own country but the city I grew up in,” said Hugh Barter, who moved to Spain to be closer to the team.

“It’s something that I’ve been dreaming of since I stated racing and it’s so surreal for it to be happening so early in my career.”

“I really look forward to seeing the crowd and all the fans supporting us Australia but that being said I need to approach this weekend as any other weekend and stay focused and do what I need to do.”

The track is a completely new circuit for the Formula 1 feeder series, with Campos working extensively in the simulator to gain experience around the street circuit.

“I can’t wait to race here, it will definitely be the highlight of the season no matter the result!” said Mansell.

“I feel super pumped!”
