Hughes crashed out after apparently steering directly into the wall.

“It was a disappointing end to our weekend here in Hyderabad,” said the Briton.

“My performance in the race felt like one of my best so far.”

“Unfortunately, my race came to an early end as a piece of debris got lodged in my steering wheel, leaving me unable to continue.”

Hughes took to social media after the race to elaborate.

“A piece of debris broke my mirror which later fell off, got stuck behind the wheel, which sent me into the wall.”

Hughes is enjoying an otherwise successful start to his Formula E career, finishing in the top ten in each of the three races so far this year.

The 2022-23 ABB FIA Formula E season resumes 25 February in Cape Town, South Africa.
