Wehrlein earned the top stop ahead of teammate André Lotterer and Jean-Éric Vergne for DS Techeetah.

The German put his Porsche on pole and held off championship leader Edoardo Mortara at the start to maintain his lead in the early stage of the E-Prix.

Mortara made a pass for the lead with the Attack Mode advantage, as the Porsche driver was looking to conserve power and also dropped behind Vergne.

With fifteen minutes to go, Wehrlein and Lotterer made their charge, dispatching Vergne and then Mortara for the lead with their energy advantage, and didn't look back, finishing nine seconds ahead of their rivals.

"That was really satisfying, with all the history I have here in Mexico it feels amazing to have the first victory for me and the team," said Wehrlein.

"I am so grateful for this team, I really love them."

"The car was amazing, and Andre did an amazing job."

"Today was our day, so let’s celebrate this evening."

The win was redemption in Mexico for Wehrlein, who crossed the line first last time out in Puebla before being disqualified.

"It was very important for me [to win here], I have raced here a couple of times in the Championship and been close so many times."

"Here in Mexico last year was heart-breaking to finish in P1 but then get disqualified."

"It was payback this weekend and it feels amazing."

Edoardo Mortara did enough to hold the lead of the drivers' standings with a fifth place finish, while reigning champion Nyck de Vries held onto second with sixth in the E-Prix.

Wehrlein jumps into third in the standings after three races with his victory.

The FIA Formula E World Championship returns for two races in Rome on 9-10 April.
