Arthur Leclerc given all-clear from hospital after FIA Formula 3 shunt

Arthur Leclerc has been given the all clear after a heavy crash saw him taken to an Austrian hospital for checks.

Leclerc was in the middle of a fierce battle during the third race of the FIA Formula 3 weekend in Austria when he attempted to pass Victor Martins on the inside approaching Turn 3.

As Martins returned to the track, Leclerc again moved to the inside, touching the rear of Martins and losing his front wing.

The PREMA driver skidded off onto the grass, losing his right wheel against a brake marker and then the guardrail.

Now just a passenger, Leclerc's car was out of control, skidding back across the track and colliding with Clement Novalak at high speed, sending both drivers off into the gravel after the huge impact.

Leclerc took a moment to get out of his car, audibly winded on the team radio.

The FIA said after the race that he was "taken to Hospital LKH Judenburg for further investigation of potential injuries to his right chest and side."

He was cleared of any ongoing injuries and released.

Leclerc has been given a three-place grid penalty for his next race, with the stewards determining that he was at fault for the accident.
