Lawson qualified on pole for the feature race at Highlands Motorsport Park, with Caio Collet joining him on the front row. The young kiwi’s race to Turn 1 became a lot simpler when Collet pulled into the pit lane at the end of the warm up lap with undiscovered damage from his collision with the barriers in Race 2.

The start was frantic, with multiple drivers taking to the grass at the first chicane. Lawson surged away from the empty front row, while Franco Colapinto, Igor Fraga and Yuki Tsunoda battled it out for the remaining podium positions—a battled that continued throughout the race.

Australian Jackson Walls saw a mechanical failure take him out of the race and bring out a safety car, but Lawson was unbeatable, building his lead to more than two seconds before he took the chequered flag. Colapinto took second, followed by Fraga, with Tsunoda unable to make his way onto the podium.

Lawson said “it was actually a very challenging weekend, this car is a lot more physical to drive than last year's.”

"The longer races at the end of the weekend are very tough. I wanted to maximise points today and I’m very happy to have achieved that."

Kiwi Chelsea Herbert finished in P15.

At the end of Round 1, Liam Lawson holds the series lead with 82 points, ahead of Igor Fraga on 67 points, and Yuki Tsunoda on 66 points.

Jackson walls sits in P14 with 16 points, while Chelsea Herbert is P17 with 10 points.
