Jack Doohan has ANOTHER dramatic late-race puncture, giving Fittipaldi the race win and Joey Alders the series title

Pietro Fittipaldi has won the second race of the F3 Asian Championship at Chang International Circuit after Jack Doohan had another puncture while leading the race. Jamie Chadwick took second, with Joey Alders in third and taking the championship victory.

Jack Doohan started on pole, and had another remarkable start, already pulling away from the chasing pack by the exit of Turn 1.

Ukyo Sasahara held second, while Pietro Fittipaldi was up to second, in front of Jamie Chadwick and championship leader Joey Alders.

Doohan set about quickly to establish his pace at the head of the field, while a three-way battle emerged for fourth place, between Chadwick, Alders, and Mikhael Belov.

Belov was able to sneak past Alders in the tussle, and the order was set as the field settled in.

Fittipaldi had surprising pace in third, and was quickly catching Sasahara for second. With the gap down to half a second, Sasahara was slow in defence, bunching up the pack behind him.

Belov looked set to be catching Chadwick, but with the pack compressing in front of them, the two drivers fell in line underneath Fittipaldi's rear wing.

Belov saw his chance on Lap 9 and went for it, pushing his car the long way around the outside of Turns 5 and 6 to get past Chadwick into fourth.

The Russian driver set off after Fittipaldi, catching him into Turn 12 to start Lap 11. Meanwhile Alders was catching Chadwick for fifth, bringing the gap under three tenths of a second for the first time in the race.

Fittipaldi refused to give up the position lightly, weaving side-to-side in Belov's mirrors as he fought to get back into the podium positions.

Belov received a 10-second time penalty for his efforts, but all attention turned to Jack Doohan as the Australian again fell out of the lead with a right-rear puncture.

With ninety-seconds to go, Jack Doohan's streak of bad luck was unbelievable, with the driver losing his second race victory in two days to a puncture.

Sasahara was promoted to the lead, followed by Belov and Fittipaldi. With Sasahara as a guest driver, and Belov holding a 10-second time penalty, Fittipaldi was technically the race leader, despite being the third car on track.

They crossed the line in that order, with Fittipaldi taking the race victory, followed by Jamie Chadwick and Joey Alders.

The third-pace finish guaranteed an unassailable lead for Alders, who was crowned as the 2019-20 F3 Asian champion.

Aussie Tommy Smith finished P7, while Jack Doohan retired to the pits.
