Harrison Duske, Noah Killion top qualifying for AU4 opener at The Bend
Two rookies topped the timesheets and took pole for the inaugural AU4 Championship weekend.
TAILEM BEND–Harrison Duske and Noah Killion topped the inaugural qualifying sessions for the AU4 Championship at The Bend, both making their racing car debuts.
Imogen Radburn and Cohen Kokotovich went head-to-head for fastest lap at the early stages of the 15-minute session, but it was soon clear that Duske and Killion had the pace to leapfrog to the top of the standings.
It was Duske's attempt on his fifth timed lap that earned pole for race one with a lap of 1:50.777 for Tim Macrow Racing. Killion and Radburn completed the top three in Gen 2, with the Sydney driver just over a tenth of a second behind the Tasmanian.
Killion set the fastest time on his first attempt in Q2 and went faster again on his second timed lap to take pole for race three with a time of 1:51.881, ahead of Imogen Radburn and Isaac McNeill to complete an all-AGI top-three in Gen 2 before a red flag brough the session to an early end.
In Gen 1 it was Jensen Marold who was the star of qualifying, more than half a second clear of Koby Wilson and Jesse James Samuels. The result was the same in Q2 with Marold increasing his margin to more than 1.5s across a lap.
Duske will lead the grid for race one at 3.45pm AEST on Saturday, with the grid for race two determined by the fastest lap time for each driver set in race one.
Race two is underway at 10.45am on Sunday, with Killion to line up on pole for race three at 2.25pm.
All three races will be streamed live on Blend Line TV.
