F1TV to launch in Australia in 2023 via Foxtel and Kayo
The long-awaited launch of F1TV in Australia will come in 2023, with content available via Kayo Sports and Foxtel IQ boxes.
Foxtel announced a multi-year rights extension with Formula 1, with Fox Sports and Kayo to remain the exclusive broadcaster of Formula 1 in Australia, except for the Australian Grand Prix.
It was not specified how long the deal is, however the F1TV app will be launched as part of the deal in 2023.
The F1TV 'pro' package, with a dedicated live feed and ability to follow onboard cameras with live team radio, has not ever been officially available in Australia since it launched.
It will be available on Foxtel IQ set top boxes, free of charge to existing customers, from early 2023.
All content from F1TV will also be available within the Kayo Sports app.
"This new partnership with Formula 1 takes our coverage to the next level for fans and together with Supercars and MotoGP, confirms Foxtel and Kayo as the home of the very best in Australian and international motorsport," said Patrick Delany, Foxtel Group CEO.
The Foxtel Group faces increased competition in the motorsport arena with rival Stan Sport snatching up the FIA Formula E World Championship and NTT Indycar Series.
The F1TV app is available as a stand-alone subscription in some other countries, with the move from Foxtel displaying a long-term commitment to holding exclusive rights to the sport.
