The Norwegian MP Motorsport driver set a lap of 1:53.175 around the Sakhir circuit in the one twilight session of running on Sunday.

The first on track in the new Formula 2 machinery was DAMS Lucas Oil driver Juan Manuel Correa, with the field brought back shortly after under a red flag.

Hauger traded fastest laps with ART Grand Prix's Zak O'Sullivan on the Pirelli wet tyres, before setting the fastest lap of the day just before the halfway stage.

The session was red flagged once again as the rain intensified, with Hauger's time unchallenged despite a burst of activity in the final hour as the track began to dry.

Barbadian Zane Maloney was second fastest for Rodin Motorsport, with Frenchman Victor Martins third for ART.
