Daniel Ricciardo falls to Yuki Tsunoda in Miami mini jet boat battle
Daniel Ricciardo has fallen short against Yuki Tsunoda in the first of a series of battles between the two Red Bull F1 teams.
The Australian represented Oracle Red Bull Racing on the waterways of Miami against Scuderia AlphaTauri, with the Japanese driver taking victory after a photo finish.
"When I first saw the mini jet boat, I thought that for once, Yuki can have the last laugh," said Ricciardo.
"Normally he's the one getting a lot of stick about his size. He actually fit pretty good in this, and I looked out of place. It was built for Yuki and that's about it."
It is Tsunoda's second victory in Miami after besting Max Verstappen in a swamp buggy race 12 months ago.
The race is the first of the Red Bull (Un)Serious Race Series, which will run at a handful of grands prix this season.
"Two wins in Miami, it's good," said Tsunoda.
"I am super happy with today's result. I am really competitive and if I had lost, I would not have had a good sleep tonight, but it seems like I will have a good sleep and be ready for race week."
"I blame the vehicle, it is always the vehicle, never the person behind the wheel," said Ricciardo.
"With the result there are no losers today, there are lessons learned. There are triumphant tribulations and joys that lie ahead and that is where we're going to leave it."
