The Australian says his experience will help him adapting to the new car, but says he is still shocked that he has reached 12 years in the sport.
"With the sport changing, perhaps there' are little things I've learnt over the years that could help mt," said Ricciardo, speaking at the McLaren team launch.
"Experience is always a nice thing and it can't be bought."
Ricciardo says he is settling in to his role at McLaren, something that will help make the transition smoother under the new regulations.
"Year two in a team is always a little easier, smoother, however you want to word it."
"We've put the hours in in year one, and year two can work more fluidly."
"Touching on the highs of last year, with [victory in] Monza, I'll always carry that forward."
The McLaren driver sees a lot of positives in the new regulations.
"I think 2022 is exciting," he said.
"There's gonna be a lot of scope to bunch the field up, for us at McLaren to get another step closer to more consistent podiums, or wins, or ultimately to fight for a title one day."
"With everything going on with the regulations it does give us a good chance, as it does many other teams."
"I'm looking forward to a tighter field, more wheel-to-wheelracing, more rivalries, all of it."
"Cant wait!"
