Callum Hedge takes Formula Regional Americas victory in New Orleans
Kiwi Callum Hedge took his first win in the opening round of the Formula Regional Americas championship in New Orleans.
Moving his way up through the field over the course of the weekend, Hedge started on the front row for the weekend finale alongside polesitter and teammate Cooper Becklin.
The pair went three-wide with Nick Persing into turn one, with Hedge pulling ahead and racing away from the pack to take the chequered flag.
Hedge took the victory ahead of Persing, with Ryan Shehan taking the final podium position after Becklin retired from the race in the midst of a four-way battle for third.
It was a successful opening weekend for Hedge, who leaves NOLA Motorsports Park second in the standings after finishing sixth in race one and third in race two.
The Formula Regional Americas Championship Powered by Honda returns 18-21 May at Road America.
