Australian Formula 4 season to start at Albert Park
The Australian Formula 4 Championship will begin 2019 at the F1 Grand Prix in Melbourne, CAMS announced today.
National Formula 4 championships are the official first rung of the ‘ladder’ to F1, and now young Australian drivers will get the chance to race at the same event as their idols. CAMS President Andrew Papadopoulos said that “Albert Park is a fantastic circuit and the drivers will really get an opportunity to soak up everything that comes with being involved in a world class, Formula 1 event”.
The announcement came alongside the release of the 2019 Formula 4 calendar as well as the unveiling of a new Formula 4 Asia Pacific Cup to take place at the end of the season in China. The top three drivers from the Australian series will qualify to represent Australia.
The Formula 1 Rolex Australian Grand Prix 2019 takes place on 14-17 March 2019.
