Arvid Lindblad continues Toyota FR Oceania feature race sweep at Teretonga
The British Red Bull junior claimed his fourth trophy of the season and enters the finale as undisputed favourite.
Championship leader Arvid Lindblad proved his form in the closest-fought race of the Toyota FR Oceania series so far this year with victory in the Spirit of a Nation Cup at Teretonga Park.
With teammate and rival Matias Zagazeta on pole, Lindblad made clear his plans to "send it" for the lead, which he did around the outside on the opening lap.
The British Red Bull Junior held steady through a brief safety car before stretching his legs to build a gap ahead of his championship rival and take the chequered flag and continue his sweep of the trophy races.
"I really wanted to win today,” said Lindblad.
"The weekend has been decent but not to the standard of the previous weekends and I really wanted to win this race."
"The start was always going to be crucial and I made a decent one but
not a mega one. I knew I had to send it and make it stick. A lot depended on Matias but he gave me the room."
Lindblad adds the Spirit of a Nation Cup to his collection so far this year alongside the Denny Hulme Memorial Trophy, the Dorothy Smith Memorial Trophy, and the Dan Higgins Trophy.
With just one round remaining, the British driver holds a firm lead of the standings on 312 points, 59 points clear of American Nikita Johnson.
Despite starting on pole, Zagazeta struggled in the later stages of the race and slipped behind Michael Shin who took second.
Shin and Zagazeta completed the podium, with Australian Patrick Heuzenroeder in fourth.
