Welcome to your Weekend Preview for 6-7 April, 2019. Here’s your look at the Aussies who are competing around the world this weekend.

Jack Doohan to open F3 Asia championship run at Sepang

The 2019 F3 Asia season hasn’t even begun, and Jack Doohan is already touted as a favourite. The 16-year-old Red Bull Junior Team member had two podiums out of his three race appearances in the Asian Winter Series, and all eyes are on the Australian to perform this weekend. Joining him is Thomas Smith, fresh from a summer in the Toyota Racing Series, as well as kiwi Brendon Leitch.

Leeds and Smith to contest F4 South East Asia

Both Luis Leeds and Josh Smith are likely to run dual F4 campaigns this year, with both drivers having raced in the opening round of the CAMS PAYCE Australian Formula 4 Championship at the Australian Grand Prix. Leeds heralded his entry with a surprise post on social media, and with the 15 drivers representing 11 nations, the championship is sure to attract international attention.

Formula Ford season opener in Sydney

The Australian Formula Ford Championship commences it’s 50 Anniversary season this weekend at Sydney Motorsport Park, with 26 cars to contest the opening round event.

The field is set to be dotted with famous names, with Hank Perkins, nephew of Larry Perkins, entering the Duratec class, and Ben Bargwanna, son of Bathurst 1000 winner Jason Bargwanna, entering the National Championship.

Jay Hanson is touted as a name to watch in this year’s Championship, after winning on debut at Magic Island in 2018, and a stellar karting CV.

Magro looks to consolidate F3 dominance

John Magro will be looking to continue his incredible form as the Australian Formula 3 Premiere Championship hits the second round of the AMRS at Morgan Park. Magro took three victories and an all-time track lap record in round one.

Horsten begins British F4 campaign

Bart Horsten will this weekend open his F4 British Championship certified by FIA – powered by Ford EcoBoost account. Racing at Brands Hatch, the 2019 crop looks to be incredibly close, with the top 10 separated by less than a second in both practice sessions.
