Weather fears bring forward Grand Prix of Indy, Indy Lights
The start times for the Grand Prix of Indy and the curtain-raiser Indy Lights race have been brought forward to avoid inclement weather.
The second race of the Indy Lights weekend was due to start at 1.20pm Saturday local time (EDT) and will now start at 1.05pm (EDT) / 3.05am Sunday (AEST).
Meanwhile the Indycar GMR Grand Prix of Indy, initially slated to start at 3.45pm, will start at 3.07pm Saturday (EDT) / 5.07am Sunday (AEST).
Indycar offered a short statement stating that the change was to ensure "fans see the most NTT INDYCAR SERIES action."
The Indycar start time is dependent on the TV window, with an on-air time for the national NBC broadcast of 3.00pm (EDT).
While American broadcast windows are notoriously tight, the programming before the race is a Pennzoil-sponsored documentary about the Indianapolis 500, which may give the series some flexibility.
Organisers asked fans to follow the series' social media for any further updates.
