Valentino Astuti on pole at Phillip Island for second round of Australian Formula Ford
Valentino Astuti will start the Australian Formula Ford weekend at Phillip Island on pole after a tight qualifying session that saw the top ten separated by less than a second.
South Australian James Piszcyk was fastest in the sole 20-minute practice session ahead of Cody Donald and Cameron McLeod, but it was Astuti who burst through the pack to claim pole in qualifying with a time of 1:37.9366.
The Victorian was just over 0.01 seconds faster than Winston Smith, who will line up alongside Astuti on the front row.
Cody Donald and James Piszcyk will star the weekend on the second row of the grid.
Formula Ford will open Saturday’s running at the Shannons Motorsport AustralianChampionships, with a ten-lap opening race at 9.05am.
Race two will be broadcast live on Stan Sport.at 1.10pm.
