Same names, but tyres a step softer for Singapore, Japan and Qatar grands prix
Formula 1 tyre manufacturer Pirelli has nominated the same numbered compounds for the Singapore, Japan and Qatar grands prix as for the 2022 season, which are slightly softer than their equivalents last year.
The Singapore grand prix will feature the three softest compounds available, the C3, C4 and C5, while teams and drivers will use the C1, C2, and C3 in the Japan and Qatar races.
The combination is the hardest used so far in the 2023 season, with the hardest C0 compound still not used in a race weekend.
Qatar made its debut in 2021 and is known to be harsh on tyres but presents the unknown factor of a completely new asphalt surface as F1 returns for its second outing at the Losail circuit.
