Rookie Isack Hadjar impresses at FIA Formula 3 pre-season test
Rookie Isack Hadjar has impressed at the FIA Formula 3 pre-season test in Bahrain, setting the fastest time on consecutive days.
Hadjar topped days two and three on the timesheets, setting the fastest lap overall on day three before a sandstorm rolled over the Sakhir circuit.
Day One
Arthur Leclerc, fresh from winning the Formula Regional Asian championship, set timing screens on fire in the final 30 minutes of the morning session with a time of 1:48.005.
In a test filled with 15 rookies, it was no surprise that the new kids dominated, with Zane Maloney fastest on day one ahead of William Alatalo and Jak Crawford.
The Barbadian driver went fastest in the afternoon session, the first driver to drop below 1:48 with a lap time of 1:47.614 ahead of Finn Alatalo and American Crawford.
Day Two
Experienced racer Victor Martins set the early benchmark in the morning session on day two, until Hadjar set the time of 1:47.516, just a tenth faster than Martins.
Team programs were mixed in the afternoon session, with Martins returning to the top, setting the fastest lap ahead of Roman Stanek and Hadjar.
Day Three
French rookie Hadjar was the fastest once again for Hitech Grand Prix, putting in a lap time of 1:47.247 to claim the overall top spot across the three days.
In the morning session it was Hadjar who led the timing page and the mileage count, putting in 44 laps as well as setting the fastest time.
As a sandstorm rolled over the Sakhir circuit it was Stanek who went fastest in the final session ahead of Reece Ushijima and Zane Maloney, but they were unable to top Hadjar's pace from the morning session.
