McLaughlin, Dixon, Takuma Sato, Kyle Kirkwood, and Agustin Canapino will all face the penalty for exceeding the limit of four engines per season, in violation of Rule 16.2.3.2 of the NTT Indycar Series.

Dixon won the Gallagher Grand Prix at the Indy road course in the most unlikely of victories after spinning out on the opening lap after contact with Romain Grosjean. The experienced Kiwi recovered from the infield grass and set about chasing down the leaders on an alternate strategy, holding off Graham Rahal by less than half a second at the line.

The penalty is a six-position grid drop at road or street events, with nine positions at oval events.

Qualifying is underway at 4.00am Sunday (AEST) before the race gets underway at 5.30am Monday, live and ad-free on Stan Sport.
