“I can only be happy with this,” said Wurz.

“We were good off the line and I knew that was the most important thing."

"Callum was very fast today and maybe I lacked a bit of race pace compared to yesterday, so we will need to have to look at that."

It was the second race win of the weekend for the championship leader, who put both wins down to a better start off the line.

“I wasn’t sure exactly what to expect at the start but I went a little off my instinct and it worked well."

"I knew at turn one I was halfway there but the tyres did drop off a bit later in the race so I had to keep a close eye on Callum in the mirrors.”

Wurz held off championship rival Callum Hedge, who kept pace with Wurz throughout the thirty-lap race but was unable to mount a move for the lead.

The pair were shadowed by Liam Sceats, who held on to complete the podium despite a late challenge from Josh Mason.

Contender James Penrose was fifth off the start but dropped out of the race with a clutch issue, while round one feature race winner David Morales retired with two laps to go after debris damaged his radiator and ECU.

Aussie Ryder Quinn was seventh, with countryman Tom McLennan in ninth.

Wurz once again completes the round in the lead of the championship, leaving Teretonga Park on 160 points.

Hedge is second on 135 points, with Jacob Abel third on 117 points ahead of a tight mid-field battle.

Ryder Quinn is the lead Aussie on 110 points, with Kiwi Liam Sceats fifth on 108 points.
