Aussie Jack Clifford to make European debut in GB4

Aussie Jack Clifford will make the move to Europe to contest the 2023 GB4 championship.

The 17-year-old has been competing in the Victorian Formula Ford championship since 2021.

“I’m ecstatic to be competing in the GB4 Championship in Britain this year,” said Clifford.

“It’s a big step on the motorsport ladder, especially coming from Australia.”

”It is a great stepping stone category as it competes on world class race tracks, has tremendous exposure as well as great driving standards.”

Clifford follows in the footsteps of his father Andrew, who competed in Australian Formula Ford and Formula 3 in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

The Melburnian joins American Jeremy Faribairn at Kevin Mills Racing, reigning team champions in the GB4 series.

“We’re really looking forward to working with Jack in the 2023 GB4 Championship,” said team boss Kevin Mills.

“He comes to us with some good Formula Ford experience in Australia, and we will be working very hard to help him make the adaptation to slicks and wings.”

”We’ve got some good pre-season testing planned, and alongside Jeremy Fairbairn, we’re building another really strong international driver line-up as we look to defend our title.”

The GB4 Championship is an alternative to British Formula 4, founded in 2022 by Johnathan Palmer’s MotorSport Vision in partnership with the British Racing Drivers’ Club (BRDC).

The series uses the Tatuus F4-T014 chassis, in the same specifications as the Italian, Spanish, and former ADAC Formula 4 championships.

The 2023 series begins 8-10 April at Oulton Park.
