Toyota Racing Series marks comeback with international signing

Brazilian Lucas Fecury has been announced as the first driver of the 2023 Toyota Racing Series.

Fecury's entry is a sign of the recovery in New Zealand motorsport, with the TRS to run its first full season since 2020 complete with international competitors.

“I am very excited to make my debut in TRS NZ,” said Fecury.

“It is a great opportunity to develop even more my skill for next year"

The 18-year-old currently competes for Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport in the US Formula 4 Championship, continuing his partnership with the team next year in New Zealand.

The Castrol Toyota Racing Series returns in January 2023 after being limited to New Zealanders in 2021 and suspended in 2022 due to border restrictions.

"We are dealing with a huge amount of high-quality enquiries for 2023 and I think everyone is looking forward to a big return," said Toyota Gazoo Racing New Zealand Motorsport Manager, Nicolas Caillol.

"It's a great start to have Lucas on board as our first confirmed driver and we will be making regular driver announcements over the coming weeks."

"We're back with a five-round calendar, five great tracks and the NZ Grand Prix."

"In addition to that of course, we are once again offering the high testing mileage that the drivers enjoy making the championship one of the best value for money junior categories, as well as one of the most competitive around."

The 2023 TRS championship begins at Highlands Motorsport Park on 13-15 January.
