The Tasmanian will compete in the pan-European series with Spanish team DriveX after completing the winter test with the team in Barcelona.

“We’re so pleased to announce Alex Peroni joins Drivex Team to compete in Euroformula Open,” read a statement from the team.

“I’m very excited to be racing with DriveX Team and add Euroformula Open to my current program,” said the Tasmanian.

“Big thank you for their confidence in me and I can’t wait to hit the track next weekend.”

Peroni had made the jump to Indy Lights after a horrific crash took him out of FIA Formula 3.

He left the series in September last year citing poor performance, making the switch to the European Le Mans Series.

He will make his Euroformula Open debut this weekend at the season opener in Estoril, Portugal.
