Oscar Piastri back on the radar for F1 drive
Australian Oscar Piastri could be on the Formula 1 grid in 2022 according to one paddock insider.
Journalist Joe Saward, in his latest Green Notebook, says the second Alfa Romeo seat may be more open than previously thought.
"The idea that this will be Guanyu Zhou seems to have gone really quiet," said Saward.
"If there was a two-year deal on the table, perhaps something might be possible [for Piastri]…"
Saward says this is made more complicated by the fact that Piastri is an Alpine Academy driver.
Meanwhile, fellow Aussie Jack Doohan is likely to move up to Formula 2 with UNI-Virtuosi.
Saward writes that the 2021 Formula 3 runner up may jump ship from the Red Bull junior driver program to Alpine.
