Marcus Armstrong third in Monaco sprint race as Hauger scores maiden victory
Marcus Armstrong finished third in the FIA Formula 2 sprint race at Monaco as Dennis Hauger secured his first victory in the series.
Reverse grid pole-sitter Jake Hughes stalled at the start, with Hauger taking a clean lead into turn one as the rest of the field narrowly avoided the stricken Hughes.
Hauger held on through a safety car restart to take the race victory ahead of teammate Jehan Daruvala and Kiwi Marucs Armstrong.
“First time here and to get the win it’s a really nice feeling," said Hauger.
Armstrong adds the podium to his recent sprint race success, having won the Saturday outing in Imola.
"It's a good stepping stone for the future," said Armstrong.
" I was driving the thing as fast as it goes…"
"I think Hitech's done a mega job and the car is, if it's dry tomorrow, I think the car is very strong for tomorrow's feature race."
Countryman Liam Lawson was eighth, while Aussies Jack Doohan and Callan Williams were seventh and fourteenth respectively.
