Formula Ford NZ champion Alex Crosbie joins Toyota FR Oceania grid
New Zealand Formula Ford champion Alex Crosbie is the first local driver to be confirmed for the 2024 Toyota Formula Regional Oceania championship.
The 16-year-old took seven wins in the 2023 Formula Ford season to take the national title, as well as five wins to top the South Island series.
Crosbie has already completed two test days in the Toyota FT-60 as part of his prize, and will contest the New Zealand Formula Open championship in the previous model to gain experience before the Toyota series begins in January.
“It’s going to be tough but I’m happy I’ll get time in the earlier car and race miles at the North Island circuits we will race on when CTFROC begins,” said Crosbie.
“Mum and dad will be running that car too, so it’ll be fun as well as being valuable.”
“It’s a great time to be a Kiwi in motorsport and I know there will be plenty of interest in CTFROC 2024.
“I’d love to win and that would be the objective, but I know it’s going to be super competitive and a top five or top three overall would also be an awesome outcome.”
The 2024 Castrol Toyota Formula Regional Oceania series begins 19-21 January.
